NoA Speaks: TIFF Confidential I
By Elliot V. Kotek
(Sept. 10, 2010)
Moving Pictures is so excited to be back at what many of us regard as the best festival in the world — great films, great talent, great industry folk and amazing audiences combining to provide what is probably the truest gauge of the potential of the films that premiere here.
First up on this morning’s agenda was a screening of “Conviction,” Tony Goldwyn’s true-to-life story about a sister who never stops fighting to clear her brother of a murder and armed robbery conviction, and who puts herself through law school to be able to represent him.
Performances from Hilary Swank, Sam Rockwell, Minnie Driver, Melissa Leo and an amazing Juliette Lewis will pull at the heartstrings in a major way.
We followed that up with “Let Me In,” the highly anticipated remake of the uber-successful Scandinavian flick, “Let the Right One In” — and in my opinion, they nailed the enchantment of the original! Young Aussie actor Kodi Smit-McPhee is beautiful to watch, and “Kick-Ass’s” Chloë Moretz is a star in the making. I wouldn’t admit this in public, but I may have shed a tear or two today.
Interviews with the stars of these films and more are coming to movingpicturesmagazine.com in the days to come, so stay posted to MP for quality TIFF insight!!!
